This is the official Medical Student's web site for the School of Medicine, University of Guyana.

Application  

  • Application  forms can be obtained from the Administration Division UG Campus during the month of February or from the University's website Foreign students are subject to a processing fee. These forms are to be filled and submitted within the specified time. Application forms for the Medical Program are sent to the Medical Board for approval of students for the New Academic Year. 
  • Admission occurs once per year. Registration begins in August and extend to the end of September. This caters for those Students awaiting the CXC/ GCE examination results. Persons who are not registered within this period will be required to pay a late registration fee. [more info. below]

Part of the Turkeyen Campus - UG

Qualifications  
  • Three or more passes at GCE A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, with B as minimum grade in at least two subjects    OR

 

  • First Degree in the Natural Sciences or Environmental Studies with a minimum GPA of 3.0    OR

 

  • First Year passes in the Department of Biology, Chemistry or Physics in any three of the following Natural Sciences subjects Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics with B as minimum grade in at least two subjects    OR

 

  • A Faculty of Health Sciences Associate Degree or Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0    OR

 

  • A Registered Staff Nurse Certificate with a distinction (pass) in one of the Post- Basic Programmes (Health Science Tutors Or Health Science managers)    OR

 

  • Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to the above.

 Please Note:

Along with the submission of the Application Forms, Candidates must also provide Two (2) character References and submit an Essay stating reasons for seeking medical training.


 Candidates will undergo a Panel Interview and upon acceptance will be required to submit a Medical Certificate of Fitness.

Medical Student Attire Students of the School of Medicine  for the purpose of uniformity and identification are required to wear white shirts (tops) and a black pants (bottom).
