Below is a summary outline of all the courses offered by the School of Medicine, University of Guyana.

The courses are divided in to Pre-Clinical and Clinical Sciences, reflecting the 5 year curriculum.
Pre-Clinical Sciences 

This division of the MBBS program consists mainly of theory and some practical experience. It is taught at the School of Medicine, located in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Turkeyen Campus. 

Duration: 2 years

Semesters: 4  (19 weeks each)

Courses: Morphological and Biomedical Sciences and Community Medicine (CFA I).

Clinical Sciences 

This department of the program consists of theory and more practical experience. Training occurs at the Georgetown public Hospital Corp. located in New market Street, Georgetown. 

Duration: 3 years

Semesters: Year long courses (see below)

Courses: Pharmaco-therapeutics, Pathology, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Surgery and Community Medicine (CFA II & III).

The difference in credits for these three years are due to the absence of examinations for courses in the third and fourth years which, occur in year 5.
